A MURDER investigation is underway following a double stabbing at a party in Mottingham yesterday afternoon (October 20).

Emergency services were called to the event at a flat in Kingsley Wood Drive at 3.05pm and found two men suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The first victim, aged 24, was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The second victim, aged 20, was treated at the scene by paramedics but he was pronounced dead at 3.51pm.

Neither victim has been named but it is believed the party happened at the flat of a woman who has been named locally as mother-of-two Josie Hall.

A 20-year-old man, who lives on the floor above Miss Hall but did not want to be named, said: “I came back to the block of flats with my mate at about 5.30pm yesterday and all this police tape was up.

“In a way I’m shocked but I’m not surprised.

“I’m sick and tired of hearing all the thumping bass through my pillow from the parties when I’m trying to sleep.”

He described Miss Hall as ‘outgoing’ and said: “She is quite an outgoing character, I always say hello and that and see her at the bus stop and that.”

Officers have been at the block of flats all day as part of the murder investigation which is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.

The dead man’s next of kin have been informed but he has not yet been formally identified.

A post-mortem examination is set to take place at Greenwich Mortuary today.

Anybody with information that could help the investigation is asked to call the incident room on 020 8721 4961.

Detectives are keen to trace a black Volkswagen Golf, registration LV07 FXA, which they believe may be linked to the incident. Officers suspect it remains somewhere in south-east London.

A man in his 20s was arrested yesterday evening on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at a south London police station.
