Longfield pupils take part in International Walk to School Month
LONGFIELD pupils have been putting their best foot forward during International Walk to School Month.
Thousands of students from more than 40 countries have taken part in the October event, including Langafel CofE Voluntary Controlled Primary School, in Main Road.
The school teamed up with housebuilder Ward Homes, which donated 50 hi-visibility vests and enough hi-visibility armbands for each pupil.
Despite the average distance to a pupil’s primary school being one mile, around 50 per cent of children do not walk to school regularly.
Headteacher Sandy Turner, said: "We believe walking to school is important and try to encourage as many of our pupils as possible to walk to school in a safe and sensible fashion.
"It is great to see a developer support such a valuable initiative and we really appreciate the donation from Ward Homes."
