Greenwich Council launches Discover More tourism programme

GREENWICH Council is urging visitors to discover more of the borough with a new tourism initiative.

Council chiefs are hoping they can build on the Olympics, which showcased parts of Greenwich to the world.

Now a new programme called Discover More is set to offer a series of exclusive special offers for visitors on the council's website.

It aims to attract more visitors to delights of the area such as Charlton House, Eltham Palace and Woolwich's museums.

Greenwich Council leader Councillor Chris Roberts said: "Forget about a day out in Royal Greenwich - you need at least a week to explore it properly.

"This is about creating another surge in our already booming local tourism industry.

"We are seeing a wave of new hotels and attractions opening and we have a skilled and trained local workforce to support this growth which provides local jobs and boosts our economy."

Come to Greenwich and look at our litter strewn streets, our parks sinking under the weight of dog faeces, our social housing falling into decline, our town centres stripped of assets, our schools churning out uneducated dole fodder and a collection of Councillors who refer to themselves as 'peoples champions' whilst lining their pockets with public money and feeding their faces with our council tax.

Greenwich, a great place to visit if depression is your favourite pastime.
