FIREFIGHTERS have freed a man whose leg became trapped between his car and a Dartford Crossing toll booth.

Crews from Dartford fire station were called at 12.30pm to the northbound toll plaza at Dartford Tunnel.

Two fire engines, Highways Agency Traffic officers, Police, Ambulance and the Air Ambulance attended.

It is believed the man tried to pay at the automatic toll booth but had a problem with the money.

As he leaned out of the car, his foot slipped from the brake to the accelerator, making the car jump forward and trapping his leg.

Firefighters used specialist equipment to free the man, who was then taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries believed to be minor.

Crews left the scene at 12.50pm.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The patient suffered a crush injury to his foot and was taken to Darent Valley Hospital for further treatment by road."

Cant quite see how that would trap his leg!!! and why the expense of the air ambulance.

Think this may have been toned down a bit. I heard he had got out of the car and another car hit his at speed flipping his car up on top of him.

If his foot (surely it would have been the right one) on to the accelerator then it would have been inside the car & not trapped - the car would have gone forward & have hit the barrier
