Blackheath fireworks to return

BLACKHEATH fireworks will light up the sky again this year.

The annual display, which attracts around 100,000 people every year, takes place on November 3 at 8pm.

Along with the rockets and bangers, there will also be funfair rides from 4pm and food stalls open from 5pm.

It was previously funded by both Lewisham and Greenwich Councils, but the royal borough pulled out of funding the event in 2010, citing spending cuts forced on them by central government.

Since then it's been funded by Lewisham Council along with donations from people and businesses.

Revellers can donate money on the night or visit the lewisham.gov.uk website to make a contribution.
