Lost photos found at Swanley Asda returned to owner

THE power of News Shopper's website has today helped to reunite some lost photos with their owner.

Earlier, we posted some pictures from a memory card which was discovered by a News Shopper employee outside the Asda supermarket in Swanley.

The card contained many happy memories including baby pictures, a trip to Buckingham Palace and to Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, so we were keen to help get the photos back to who they belonged to.

We asked if anyone recognised the people in the pictures, and within an hour of the article being posted we were contacted by the owner of the memory card.

It will be collected tomorrow - so a happy ending to the tale.

Newsshopper you realise you have broken the law on publishing someones pictures without consent, i can understand maybe one picture but exposing this person pictures especially the young children is morally wrong!!!!

Maybe they didn't need to post that many pictures, but it's not going to harm anyone. Personally, I'd lost a load of cherished photos, I'd be happy that the local paper did this as it means I'd be reunited with it. Otherwise, there's no real way of getting this back to the rightful owner.

Being the parent of some of the children in the pics i rang the news desk to ask if the pics can be removed as they now know who the owner of the memory card is and was told that the editor says NO!! All i can say is that im not happy with that decision and im waiting for a call back this afternoon, surely now the owner of the card knows where it is there shouldnt be a problem with removing them.

i know they are doing a good deed and appreciate that, but surely now the owner has been found and have been asked by me the parent of some of the children to remove my childrens pic from the site they can remove the pics of the children, they do not need to be on there any longer. And would you like your kids pics on a website where they can be easily copied and forwarded etc onto god knows who for god knows wot purpose!
I do not see why they cannot now be removed now that the good deed has been done!

And there we have it.

But it's just a picture of some random kid. Maybe don't believe everything you read in the daily fail about pedos and pictures of kids. This is not the type the pedos would be after. Not to mention the million pictures of kids that can be seen already on the internet.

This is just what you think thou. Saying things like 'i think im within my rights' doesn't atomically mean that's you get what you want. No one is stopping you from asking. But the bull that you have come out with is funny. Don't confuse your opinion with fact.

Wot - What
im - I'm

No one has said you're a bad parent. Were did you get that from? I think you're a little deluded to think that a paedophile would want these pictures.
What harm is it doing having these pictures on the here? It no worst than someone taken a picture of their child and your children also being in the picture. Like say at a party or in the park.

No-one has suggested you're a bad parent, but despite what some of the more sensational press may suggest there isn't a paedophile around every corner.

And I'm sure they would find a better source of pictures than the News Shopper

By continually adding comments you're actually creating more interest. If you'd simply called NS & left it at that this article would have dropped off the page within a day. It's now heading to the top of the "most commented" list

You're right pedophiles don't want a picture of kids in clothes but they do like a photo of a happy smiling child to photo shop onto a picture of a child being sexually abused.

I believe the mum in this instance was right to ask for the photos to be removed.

Yup - known as the Streisand effect. Babs tried to get pictures of her house removed from the internet. No-one wanted to look at her house anyway, but all the publicity of her trying, yet failing, to get the photos removed caused millions of people to look at the photos - of her house!

Just a quick question for lisamb2717 then: if one of your children won a special school award or was crowned Carnival Queen or something similar, would you allow the photo of your child accepting the award/being crowned to be published in the NS or local paper?

A) How would this harm the child?
If I was to get a photo of an MP or Banker and stick pins into it, would that they feel the pain ? No.

B) No one has said she has no right to ask.

Anyway happy days the photos have gone.

When 'Brass Eye' did a spoof documentary about paedophiles it was vilified. The programme basically took the mick out of the hysteria surrounding the topic, it showed how ‘celebrities’ would say anything just to be ‘on board’ the bandwagon. Now we are likely to see some of those implicated in the Jimmy Saville matter. The programme poked fun at people like our poster above screaming about the ‘law being broken’. The law actually says you cannot make, download or pass on ‘indecent images’ of children. Sadly that means the pictures of my kids playing in the bath or running around the garden half dressed in the summer may well get some mono celled idiot running to the police screaming ‘abuse’. All you hear now is reactions like that, it’s a shame that common sense is no longer a life skill.

Where did you get such a stupid idea from?
Do you honestly think pedo's scour newspapers to find a picture of a kid and then photo shop their face onto another kids photo.
You mums are so overprotective, and you could even say pathetic.
You better put a bag over your kids head when they are in public, just incase.

I can only guess that the point made on this and another story has been lost.........foxy's parents "chose" to be photographed for NS.

Lost photos at ASDA - A mum (not necessarily the one who owned the memory stick) asked NS to remove photo's of her kids and her request was initially refused (but now thankfully acceded to)!

Ms and Miss Chavette from school with mobile phone - some parents did not want photo's of their kids associated with that particular story. Photo's of their kids were not associated with the news item and were included by NS without their permission. Again parents were within their rights to ask for their kids photos to be removed.

Children don't have the right to reply - they usually depend on an adult to make the 'right decisions' on their behalf. I'd rather be a parent who was aware of the sometimes not very nice world we live in than one who didn't care whether my kids were out robbing, maiming or worse.

I'm glad my previous comment about pedophiles amused you.

And to a previous poster, no you're probably right they don't troll rags like NS for their happy pics, they usually prey on Facebook. How many people post their family snaps there to share with family, friends and ......whoever!

So in a nutshell that's why some parents are so vociferous about their kids privacy and I can only hope you understand why. My opinion only. Goodnight.

Unless the person(s) in the photo(s) held the copyright then the permission to use them is not needed.
