New mental health help for in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley
THOSE feeling anxious, depressed or suffering from mental health problems, in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley, can get help simply by ringing a phone number.
A new scheme called Any Qualified Provider, which will be launched on November 1, will allow callers to get therapy over the phone.
If they are eligible, they will also be able to arrange NHS-funded face to face or group sessions at healthcare providers of their choice in North Kent.
Dr Bhaskar Bora, chair of Dartford Gravesham and Swanley Clinical Commissioning Group said: “I am delighted that so soon after World Mental Health Day, on 10 October, we will be seeing such a substantial increase in services locally for people with anxiety, depression and other common mental health problems.
“Talking therapy is approved by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence as the most effective treatment for people with mild to moderate depression or anxiety.
“We expect people to be able to access treatment much more quickly as a result of this expansion of services, which in itself is likely to improve the outcome for them.”
People can access the care at liveitwell.org.uk or by calling 0800 107 0160.
