TWO MEN had to be cut out of their cars by firefighters after they crashed in Meridian road in Charlton last night (October 11).
The drivers were trapped in their vehicles and it took around fifteen firefighters to free them – including removing the car roofs.
A 21-year-old male and a 28-year-old male were released approximately half an hour after crews received a call around 10pm.
They were both suffering from neck and spinal injuries and were taken to a south London hospital by the London Ambulance service.
Crews from East Greenwich, Woolwich and Lewisham attended the scene as well as police.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “We were called to a road traffic collision at approximately 10pm.
“Both drivers were trapped by the nature of their injuries and had to be extricated using hydraulic cutting equipment."
He added that both were breathing and conscious.
