A passionate teacher with dance in her soul has opened a new, very economical stage school for kids in Swanley.

Sylvia Sulway is welcoming children between six and 19-years-old to learn how to act, dance, sing and perform musical theatre shows during weekly class, Step in Time.

And each family will only pay for one child at £5 per session, no matter how many siblings join in.

Sylvia told News Shopper: “It’s for the community as well.

“And £5 isn’t a lot of money for a dance class.

“I like to see children go on to do well and giving them confidence.

“Sometimes I get kids that sit on the side and won’t do anything for six or seven weeks and then all of a sudden their little feet start moving.

“I had one girl who wouldn’t do anything for six months and now she’s a champion dancer.”

Taking place every Saturday in the hall at Christ Church Centre in Kingswood Road, the lessons will offer training in various dance genres including Latin, street and disco.

With around 30 years’ experience teaching, Sylvia’s previous students have gone on to dance in the West End and even choreograph routines for Take That.

She added: “It’s just in me – I love the choreography and I do it all on my own.

“I just love it, it’s been in me since I could walk.

“A long time ago I danced with Ballet Rambert and in the West End in Puss in Boots, and I started teaching when I was about 20.”

Lessons take place between 10.30am and 12pm.
