NORTH West Kent College is running a week-long lifeguard qualification at its re-developed Gravesend Campus.

The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is a requirement for a number of jobs from a pool lifeguard to a centre manager.

The course will be held at the college's Body Matters Fitness Centre from October 29 to November 2, with an assessment morning on November 3.

It is open to anyone over 16 and will include learning resuscitation, rescue techniques, poolside assistance and a small amount of first aid relevant to lifeguarding.

Sports development manager at the college, Melanie Collins, said: "The college offers a wide range of courses with skills to help people find employment and with the NPLQ, we’re offering it to the local community too."
