Motorist hits three cars in Bexley Village following high speed police chase
2:09pm Tuesday 9th October 2012 in News By Alan Woods
A 26-YEAR-old motorist crashed into three cars in Bexley High Street following a high speed police chase.
Police were alerted to the driver shortly after 1:30pm on Monday (October 8) when he pulled out in front of a police car at speed in Roman Way, Crayford.
The vehicle continued to drive erratically and on reaching Bourne Road, officers used their blue flashing lights and siren to pull it over.
However the vehicle continued to drive at speed, over-taking several vehicles before it eventually crashed in Bexley High Street.
The driver ran from the scene and was chased by officers, before being detained inside Bexley railway station.
Police arrested the motorist at 1:40pm for failing to stop, dangerous driving and possession of what is believed to be Class A drugs with intent to supply.
The high street was closed in both directions while the scene was cleared and one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
He has been bailed to return to Bexleyheath police station in December.
