AGE UK Bexley is teaming up with a Welling pub to offer the over 60s a better social life.

The New Cross Turnpike, in Bellegrove Road, will be used as a meeting place for pensioners who want to enjoy meals and outings together.

Chief executive of Age UK Bexley, Paul Goulden, said "What the over 60s do and where they do it has been changing over recent years, and pubs are no longer just places to drink.

"As a charity we cannot wait for older people to come to us, we have to go to where they are and by running events with Wetherspoons we are talking to people who might otherwise not have thought we had anything to offer."

The charity also runs Pop-in Parlour sessions for pensioners at Welling Library.
