A LARGE group of Erith homeowners got stuck into a morning of hardcore litter picking on Thursday (October 4).

Staff from the nearby McDonalds restaurant, in Avenue Road, and representatives from Orbit South Housing Association joined those living on the estate to clear up The Dell, an area of green space in the heart of the estate.

During the two-hour clean up, the team collected more than 50 bags of rubbish as well as discarded furniture.

Larner Road regeneration community development officer Maddassar Arif said: “We’re really pleased Larner Road residents and our partners at McDonalds have joined in with such enthusiasm.

“We had great day out in the fresh air and the newly tidied green space looks lovely.

“We hope the residents of Larner Road enjoy it in the weeks to come.”

Pretoria House homeowner Tracey Kember added: “It’s really nice to see people from local businesses rolling their sleeves up and working with us to help clean up the area.

“It was a brilliant day and I can’t wait for the next litter pick.”

The freshly spruced up Dell will be available for families living on the estate to enjoy before it begins a massive transformation next year.
