A GROUP supplying unwanted food to hostels for the homeless is appealing for more drivers and volunteers.

Every Monday members of Food Not Bombs hand out free meals at St Mungo's hostel, in Exeter Way, New Cross, to the area's homeless and vulnerable.

Volunteers take surplus in-date food, which would otherwise be thrown away by businesses, then cook it and serve it.

Kelsey's Farm Shop, in Water Lane, Sidcup and Swanley Bakery, in Swanley High Street, have signed up to the project and are providing it with food.

Drivers with their own car are needed to transport the food from the shops to the hostel every fortnight on Mondays from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
