Belvedere Tesco Express roof leak caused flooding and closure
11:02am Saturday 6th October 2012 in News By Tim MacFarlan, Bexley and north Kent reporter
Heavy rain and a roof leak caused the flooding and closure of Tesco Express in Belvedere.
TESCO Express in Belvedere had to be closed last night after a roof leak led to flooding.
The mini-supermarket was shut at around 8pm after the leak, apparently left unfixed for some time, alowed last night's heavy rain to flood the shop.
After a clean-up operation this morning Tesco was re-opened an hour and a half late at around 7.30am with the floor at last clear of water.
A shop worker said the stock remained fine.
Across the country heavy rain fell for the second night, bringing with it the risk of flooding to some areas.
Sky News this morning reported that up to 35mm of rain fell in some areas of the South, leading the Environment Agency to issue more than 30 flood alerts for the South West.
