4:28pm Wednesday 3rd October 2012 in News By George Sargent
GRAVESEND shoppers will be able to pick up free purse chains, personal alarms and shed alarms in Gravesend town centre this week.
Kent Police, Fire and Rescue Service and Council will be offering crime prevention and home safety advice to passers-by in New Road on October 5 from 10am to 2pm.
Police community support officer, Debbie Coker Barnes, said: “There will be lots of people on hand during Friday's safety event offering advice, fitting purse chains and issuing shed alarms and personal alarms.
“Please don’t hesitate to come and speak to any of the team about any issue you may have.”
“We are committed to reducing crime and will deal with any reports of anti-social behaviour and crime in Gravesham."
Kent Fire and Rescue Service community safety officer, Robert Irwin, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to get some practical fire safety advice.
“We will be reminding them that fitting a smoke alarm and taking a few simple fire precautions could save their lives.”
Gravesham Borough Council safer place officer, Sarah Hunt, said: “This is a great opportunity to show the public that we are working in partnership to improve and support businesses to make Gravesham a safe, friendly and pleasant place to visit and shop.”
