Gravesend Heritage Quarter plans backed by 84 per cent of public
9:12am Tuesday 2nd October 2012 in News By Alan Woods
Members of the public look at the plans to revamp Gravesend's Heritage Quarter.
PUBLIC reaction to plans to revamp a huge part of Gravesend town centre has been positive, according to the developer.
Edinburgh House estimates more than 300 people attended the first public exhibition, with 84 per cent of these backing their plans.
Over the two-day consultation, 100 feedback forms were completed at the display inside St George’s Shopping Centre.
Edinburgh House development manager Richard Hughes said: “We were delighted with the interest shown by the public.
“Their positive reaction to the significant changes in the scheme was particularly encouraging and many people who had concerns for the previous plans gave us their support for our new designs.
“We’ve talked to the local community a lot over the last 18 months and the discussions and ideas that have been generated have helped shape these new designs.”
The plans show how Edinburgh House hopes to re-design three large areas in Gravesend’s Heritage Quarter, creating a new hotel, shops, apartments and a market square.
