Megan Stammers: Missing teacher Jeremy Forrest's dad from Petts Wood appeals for son and runaway pupil to return
A PETTS Wood father has made an emotional plea for the safe return of his teacher son Jeremy Forrest and runaway schoolgirl Megan Stammers, who are missing in Europe.
Jim Forrest, of Chislehurst Road, appeared alongside wife Julie at a press conference to try and persuade his son, 30, or 15-year-old Megan to get in contact.
The media briefing marked one week since the pair was caught on CCTV on a ferry to Calais.
Mr Forrest said: “Hi Megan, hi Jeremy, I hope this message reaches you and you're both okay. There are a lot of people back home who are desperate to hear from you.
“All I'm asking is for one of you to send an email to let us know you're both safe. Please, please get in contact.”
Jeremy Forrest is a maths teacher at Bishop Bell C of E School in Eastbourne, East Sussex, where Megan is a pupil.
It emerged this week that Mr Forrest was a former teacher at Bishop Justus School in Bromley.
However, Sussex Police say they will not be investigating the school in Magpie Hall Lane because they are “focused on getting Megan back.”
At the press conference it was confirmed that a European arrest warrant had been issued for Jeremy Forrest by Sussex Police.
Chief Inspector Jason Tingley said: "Locating the pair to ensure their safe return remains our top priority. This has probably not gone the way that Megan or Jeremy expected.
“As part of the process of working with the French authorities, we have secured an international letter of request and a European arrest warrant.
"These orders, which have been obtained with the help of the Crown Prosecution Service, enable us to work with the European authorities, and are in relation to an offence of child abduction.
"This means taking Megan without the consent of her parents.”
