X Factor hopeful Jade Ellis from Greenwich through to judges' houses round

A SINGLE mum from Greenwich is fast becoming one of the favourites to win the X Factor.

Jade Ellis, who lives in a tower block, wowed the judges in the first round by singing I Need by Maverick Sabre.

Guest judge Leona Lewis told the 25-year-old: “That was so good.

"I felt every single lyric that you were singing. You’ve got an amazing voice."

Tulisa Contostavlos said: “I love it when I see people like yourself who at a period in your life had to give up what you were doing but you didn’t let go of your dreams.

“You’ve come back fighting and it was worth it. That was amazing.”

But in the second round Jade forgot the words to Jason Mraz’s I Won’t Give Up.

Gary Barlow said: “There was something not quite right there, wasn’t there?”

Tulisa replied: “Yeah, that wasn’t her at her best.”

But the judges had seen enough of Jade’s talent and put her through to round three, which sees the last 24 contestants visit the judges’ houses.

Saturday’s show will see Jade jet off to St Lucia where she will audition again in front of her mentor Tulisa before finding out if she is through to the live finals.

Before going on stage in round two, Jade said: “My daughter’s six years old.

“It’s a bit hard her not being here.

“I’ve never been away from her so it’s quite difficult.

“I just want to give her a cuddle.”

Jade gave up singing at 19 to have her daughter Cayden and is now returning to her dream of being a singer.

She said: "It’s about showing Cayden she can do anything she wants to do."

“If I did win the X Factor, I would go to a nice little house with a nice little garden.

“I think that’s all I want, that little patch of heaven."

She added: “Having my daughter and knowing I’m a good mum has given me the confidence to go and do it.”
