MATHS teacher Jeremy Forrest, who has gone missing with schoolgirl Megan Stammers, was a former employee of a Bromley school, it has emerged.

Police across Europe are searching for Mr Forrest, 30, and 15-year-old Megan after they disappeared to France last Thursday.

Mr Forrest taught maths at Bishop Justus School, in Magpie Hall Lane until 2009.

However, Sussex Police, in charge of the investigation, say it is not speaking Bishop Justus School about Mr Forrest.

Former pupil Nicola Foxen, 19, of Orpington High Street, who was taught GCSE maths by Mr Forrest , expressed her shock at hearing of the relationship.

She said: “He was the last person I would have expected to have done something like this.

“He was very good because he was a younger teacher and was pretty cool because he was in a band, which made us respect him.

“I am really surprised. He was everyone’s favourite teacher at the school.”
Bishop Justus headteacher Kathy Griffiths confirmed that Mr Forrest was an ex-employee of the secondary school.

She said: ““I can confirm that Mr. Forrest is an ex employee. He left our school in July 2009.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all concerned and for the safe return of Megan Stammers.”

Sussex Police have released details of the runaway pair to try and help the search across Europe.

Megan is white, 5ft 6in tall, slim, with long, straight, dark brown hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing a white vest top and silver chain.

Forrest is 6ft, slim with fuzzy facial hair and mousy brown hair. He wears square glasses, dresses casually and has a black star tattoo on his upper left arm.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101, quoting Operation Oakwood.

Police have asked the pair, or anyone else with information, to call 01273 475432 or text 07786 208090.
