THIRTEEN people were injured when two buses collided near a bus stop behind The Glades shopping centre in Bromley this morning.

The casualties suffered a range of injuries including cuts and bruises, neck pain and whiplash, when a 320 double-deck bus hit a 208 double-deck bus in Widmore Road at around 10.45am.

Two of the injured people were given neck collars and then put on spinal boards and it is thought they were taken to Kings College Hospital, Denmark Hill.

London Ambulance crews also took four people to Lewisham Hospital and four people to Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough.

A 45-year-old shopkeeper in Widmore Road, who did not want to be named, says she heard a loud bang and then saw people coming off the bus on stretchers.

She said: “It looked like the bloke in the bus behind smashed into the other bus."

And a woman at Bromley United Reformed Church, who also did not want to be named, says one of the passengers who had been “jerked backwards” was taken into the church to sit down while waiting for the ambulance.

Transport for London’s head of operations for London Buses, Ken Davidson, said: “At around 10.50 today a route 320 double-deck bus, operated by Metrobus, was in collision with route 208 double deck bus, operated by Selkent on Widmore Road, near Court Street, in Bromley.”

He said there will be a full investigation into the crash.

Widmore Road was temporarily closed but was re-opened at 12.10pm.

Hardly surprising as bus drivers are probably the worst drivers ever!! A complete law unto themselves with erratic braking, not always stopping at red lights & pulling out on other cars.

And what about the VAST number of car drivers/Van driver's that do the same?

Spend 20 minutes at the traffic lights by Welling Station and see how many cars jump the red lights, I think you'd be surprised....How about the number of vehicles that would rather go wrong sides of traffic islands to overtake buses, never understand that as they will be stopping again soon so you can overtake safely.

I'm not trying to say ALL bus drivers are saints, but the VAST majority are VERY good driver's.
