Firefighters stop Welling house fire spreading to neighbouring homes
TWENTY five firefighters battled for two hours to bring a house fire in Welling under control last night (September 23).
The blaze started in the loft of a semi-detached home in Wickham Street at about 11.30pm before spreading to the roof and the first floor.
It destroyed around three quarters of the roof and half of the first floor but the crews from Plumstead, Eltham, Bexley and Greenwich, managed to stop it spreading to neighbouring homes and the ground floor of the property.
The family who live in the house managed to get themselves out before fire crews arrived after being alerted to the blaze by a smoke alarm.
A fire investigation team is looking into the cause of the fire.

I've been in that position and it's horrible you just don't know what to do. I hope you can get everything sorted and that you are insured for your losses. The only problem is all your documents were probably destroyed but don't let them fob you off.

Hi i am the occupant of that house & before printing stuff you need to get your facts right we did not get alerted by the fire alarms it was my cat in actual fact that woke us. People are that sick & were filming the whole thing like it was a pantomime show just shows how sick people really are out there. We have been left homeless & only have the clothes we have on so please show a bit of consideration & leave us in piece.
