Gravesend mother sentenced for falsely claimed £6,000 benefits
A GRAVESEND mother who falsely claimed more than £6,000 in housing and council tax benefits has been sentenced.
Kathleen Lee, of Darnley Street, failed to declare to Gravesham Council her husband had started full-time employment.
The 52-year-old pleaded guilty to two charges of failing to promptly declare changes in circumstances under the Social Security Administration Act 1992.
Dartford magistrates sentenced Lee to a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered her to pay £100 costs.
She must pay back £139 a month to clear the amount falsely claimed.
