Lewisham Indian restaurant hit with £15,000 fine

OWNERS of an Indian restaurant in Lewisham have been hit with a dosa justice after three illegal workers were found working there.

UK Border Agency officers raided Everest King Curry, Loampit Hill, on November 25 and arrested three Sri Lankan members of staff.

Immigration checks revealed that the men, aged 33, 43 and 52, had stayed in the UK illegally after their asylum claims were rejected.

An agency spokesman said Everest King Curry was issued with a potential fine notice for employing illegal workers and given an opportunity to prove that the correct right-to-work checks were made before the men were taken on.

The owners failed to do so and have been handed a fine of £15,000.

Two of the men have now been removed from the country while another has permission to reside temporarily in the UK.

Jill Smith, from the south London enforcement team, said: "The message is clear for employers — we will not tolerate illegal working and we will take firm action against those who ignore the rules."

Nothing surprising here sadly - it's virtually endemic. Illegals are routinely picked up, identified then let go and told to report somewhere else!...

Going by your use of English and grammer, I would say that you're an illegal and should be shipped out.

Weak Labour immigration controls followed by the do nothing Conservative/Liberal Dems coalition Govt. has left us with the chaos we see today
For chris sake we an "Island" how do these people get getting here?
No British people looking for work are any better off with illegal immigrants smuggled here to do work on the black market.
Maybe a massive increase in the fines for the culprits is needed,, or we all start turning to other political partys is the answer!

Being someone who works in the domestic abuse sector I know actually how difficult it is to apply for indefinate leave to remain under the domestic violence rules. You have to prove to the Home Office that not only have you suffered serious abuse from your partner, but also that it would be dangerous for you to return home.

Additionally as Macadonia is a candidate country for EU membership you do not need a visa to travel from it to other EU countries. Thus I suggest you are talking utter rubbish, now go back to reading the Daily Mail.
