GYM staff are hoping to flush out the phantom steam room piddler who is striking at a Sidcup gym.

Regular gym user Keith Perry, 49, says someone has been spending more than a penny to exercise at the David Lloyd gym, in Baugh Road, several times in the past month.

Mr Perry said: “You couldn’t even go in the steam room last week, it was such an over-powering stench.

“It’s obviously some sicko going in there and relieving themself.

“It’s quite worrying really.

"You’ve got families going down there and you don’t want some crack head wandering round doing this.”

Mr Perry says he complained to staff at the gym last week.

The father-of-two, who visits the gym with his wife and two children, added: “They did seem quite concerned about it.

“One of the lifeguards I was chatting to said it was an on-going problem.

“It’s quite incredible that someone is doing this.”

Initially thinking the problem could have been caused by someone visiting the gym on an open-day, Mr Perry realised this could not be the case when it happened again.

A David Lloyd Gym spokeswoman said: “The club is aware of only one complaint made last week about an unpleasant smell in the steam room.

“The area was immediately closed off for inspection and deep cleaned before reopening.

“No evidence was found of any urination and no further complaints have been received regarding this matter.

“Our terms and conditions clearly state that, for health and safety reasons, members are asked to shower and use the toilet before entering the pool, spa, steam room and sauna.”
