POLICE are searching for a very tall man in his 40s after a 15-year-old girl was reportedly sexually assaulted in Greenhithe High Street on July 20.

The girl, who was heading home after visiting ASDA, said she walked past a man smoking outside the Pier Hotel.

At around 9:50pm, he followed her and pushed her against a wall before sexually assaulting her, pushing her to the ground and walking away, it is alleged.

The girl ran home to tell her family what had happened.

Police have released an e-fit of a man they would like to speak to in relation to the offence.

Detective Constable Jo Fountain said: “We have been working with the owner of the Pier Pub, local residents, the young girl and her family in order to further the investigation.

“We have recently had reports of a man fitting the description being seen in London Road and Eagles Road in Greenhithe.

“This man may be local or may be visiting someone in the area.

“This was clearly a very traumatic experience for the young girl and we need to ensure nothing like this happens again.”

They have asked for anyone with information to call 101 quoting the reference XY/021953/12. They can also call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The man is described as white, very tall, with big shoulders, a wide chin, black short hair. He smelled of alcohol and cigarettes.

He was wearing a black coat and light coloured jeans. He is believed to be in his 40s and speaks with an English accent.
