A 48-YEAR-OLD man has been found guilty of fraud after cashing £30,000 in cheques stolen from TV illusionist Derren Brown.

Bernard Ayanbanjo, of Waverley Road, Woolwich, had denied two counts of fraud at Southwark Crown Court last week but was convicted by a jury.

He had been handed the cheques by Mr Brown's cleaner Rocio Pavon-Navarrete, aged 47, of Bardsley Lane, Greenwich, who last week broke down in tears after admitting the theft.

Judge David Higgins told her: "Whilst I have adjourned for a pre-sentence report, indeed a high probability remains that she will be sentenced to immediate custody given that which is obviously the grossest breach of confidence.

"I wish her to have no illusions about what the future is likely to hold, given the very serious criminality to which she has pleaded guilty."

The pair will both be sentenced on October 11.
