Cray Wanderers held a two goal lead at Lewes after 33 minutes, but a late equaliser salvaged a 2-2 draw for the Rooks.

Cray 'keeper Andy Walker had to make a point-blank save to prevent a goal for Lewes following a corner-kick in the 3rd minute.

Play was scrappy in the early stages, with the ball spending a lot of time in the air, but Michael Power showed a touch of class to give Cray the lead on 15 minutes.

Power took advantage of time and space on the right edge of the box to send a perfectly-placed low shot past Keiron Thorp's outstretched right hand to nestle in the Rooks' net.

Power nearly added a second when he slapped a first-time drive narrowly wide on 22 minutes.

Cray found themselves with some defending to do on the half-hour mark, with Billy Burgess making a saving tackle in the box and Aaron Day kneeing the ball off the line from the resultant corner-kick.

A foul on the hard-working Bremner led to Cray's second goal in the 33rd minute. Tyrone Sterling met the free-kick with a downward header that was handled in the goalmouth, and Bremner stepped up to tuck away the penalty-kick.

Four minutes later Walker had to pick the ball out of the net when Joe Vines, playing against one of his former clubs, couldn't help sending a header into his own goal.

Lewes began the second half by pushing Cray back, but the home side didn't have the finishing touch to complete their occasional good attacking moves.

Sterling made a determined run into the visiting penalty-area on 71 minutes, refusing to be pushed off the ball, before blasting a shot that Thorp palmed over the bar.

Looking firm at the back, Cray were still leading 2-1 when four minutes of stoppage time was announced, but substitute Max Howell volleyed a screamer past Walker when Cray couldn't prevent a cross coming in from the right.

The Wands had to survive two more threats on their goal as Lewes went looking for the winner, but Walker plucked two crosses out of the air with safe hands.

Cray: Walker, Burgess, Sterling, Day, Willy, Vines, Saunders, Sproson (Williams 74), Bremner (Darvill 88), Peauroux, Power (Hamici 60). Subs not used: Parkinson, Pooley.
