BECKENHAM got the honour of hosting the first Topless Female Trampolining World Championships this week.

Half-naked women bounced around on trampolines at The Beckenham Spa under the watchful eye of Hollywood actor Chris O’Dowd.

The fun was part of a viral video that is intended to raise awareness of male breast cancer.

Award-winning trampolining club the Beckenham Fliers also helped out by performing a few somersaults for the camera.

The film was created by new bosom buddies the breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel! and the Male Cancer Awareness Campaign (MCAC).

O’Dowd, 32, who played Roy in Channel 4’s The IT Crowd, plays a Swedish health and safety officer called Lars Larson in the video – a man said to have the best job in the world.

The star, who also featured in The Boat That Rocked, oversees the girls' activities, which he calls “the bouncies”, and at one point he serenades them with his ukulele.

Kris Hellenga, founder of CoppaFeel!, said: “Male breast cancer is a subject that is still very taboo. Men are notoriously bad at getting symptoms checked out.

“This disease goes undiagnosed and eventually found at a stage when it can’t be cured.”

Male breast cancer is rare but around 300 men are diagnosed with it in the UK each year.

People can join the campaign at www.facebook.com/thebouncies or read more about it at www.thebouncies.org .

You can try out a trampolining class with the Beckenham Fliers on Fridays from 7.30-9pm at The Beckenham Spa, £5 for a session.
