Catford mum gets animal ban after letting dogs fight in faeces-strewn house

A CATFORD mother has been banned from having pets for 10 years after letting nine dogs and puppies fight each other in a faeces-strewn house.

Deborah Yeboah-Adjei had two of her children in the house in Elfrida Crescent where six puppies and three adult dogs were fighting and covered in wounds, scars and mange, Bromley Magistrates’ Court heard.

The RSPCA found one wounded dog tied to a radiator while the others attacked it, as well as injured Staffordshire bull terriers and one animal with multiple bites to the face at the property in July.

The 46-year-old was told she will not be allowed to look after any animals for 10 years on September 12.

She was also given a conditional discharge for two years and ordered to pay £2,000 costs.

Yeboah-Adjei had previously pleaded guilty to eight breaches of the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

District Judge Denis Lynch said: "It is staggering that you had two young children in a house with nine dogs fighting each other and apparently all together with dog mess all over the house.

"You knew it and let it carry on."

Prosecutor for the RSPCA Alison Kemsley said: "The property itself was covered with animal waste and garbage. One dog had multiple bite wounds to the face and an infected wound below the elbow.

"Another had a bitten shoulder, scars, a swollen upper eyelid. A third had scratches, bite marks, a fractured tooth. "There was a failure to protect them from pain and suffering."

Yeboah-Adjei said the dogs were her son’s and she was in the middle of cleaning the house at the time.

She said: "I would like to apologise. Even though everything got out of control, I had a duty of care for the dogs as well as my children.”

She said: "I would like to apologise. Even though everything got out of control, I had a duty of care for the dogs as well as my children.” well I think the only duty of care she had was duty of care to herself alone, she is not worried about the dog's or kid's, so to tell her she can't have pets for ten years is what she probably wanted, seeing that she was trying to kill the animals off anyway. The worrying thing is that she still has the children, does anybody think she has seen the error of her ways, and from now on will be a good well rounded mother, I hope I'm wrong, but I think it's just a matter of time before she is tying the kid's to the radiator and watching them fight to the death.

I agree with both the posts above. Sounds like a puppy farm. So why wasn't the son taken to court as well?

I find any animal abuse and suffering disgusting, BUT how will she be monitored over the next 10 years to ensure that she doesn't have any more animals.

I also agree that it sounds like the adult dogs were being used as a conveyor belt to produce puppies for profit.

Cant see why the children were allowed to stay with her, If her house was that dirty it show she has no hygiene, I bet she is not working so how does she pay £2,000 cost, i take it the tax payer will pay it out of her benefits. She is not fit to be a Mother

When are the courts going to properly sentence people for carrying out offences, this is the third story about neglected staffs i have read in the past week and all 3 have had a slap on the wrist. The kids lived with 9 dogs who were fighting each other, living in apauling conditions but not of the kids were attacked by the 'demon' staffies. Take her kids and put her in prison, I suppose the 9 poor dogs are going to end up having 7 days to find a home in the RSPCA's care then they will be PTS. Another 9 to add to the 1000's in the pounds suffering, People make me sick

An achievement CLAP CLAP CLAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
. This story is full of bull **** and stupidity and I do not believe this is the true account account of what had transpired. We all know the newspapers who never get their facts right before publishing. I know this woman and her children and what has been said has been twisted and exaggerated. Low editors do not have any morales and regard for human dignity. but ............. We do not believe in slave trade any longer.

I believe she has moved on with her life whether she is dirty or has no hygiene her children still loves her and they are still with her. If she was not a respectful and responsible lady her children would have been taken away from her.

Who cares whether she got a conditional discharge, banned from having dogs and asked to pay prosecution cost of 2000 pounds. Low life editors are always interested in foolishness. What was the aim of publishing this unprofitable story for the aimless idiot to add useless comments.

Come on get a life. Dragging her name into mud will not change the views of the people who know, love and care for her.

I have known this lady for more than ten years and I believe the prosecutors exaggerated to extort money from her knowing how vulnerable and naive she is. Do you not think you have done enough damage to her family. Leave her alone.

What a disappointment to you she is not in prison. As you have wished that on her I decree you will be in jail yourself a year by this time and may your wish be returned to you a thousand fold.

They have done their worse and this goes to show how the judicial system can not get their facts rights.

Publishing her story will not make a difference to her life but highlights how low life editors and vindictive people like some police officers, RSPCA and the news shoppers have no morals to themselves and humans.

Friendship loyalty is a very powerful emotion no doubt, but your friend did torture animals that has been proved, so in the eyes of most people she is a nasty bully who takes out her frustrations on animals who she knows can't defend themselves, so if you really want to help your friend then sit her down and tell her in no uncertain terms that hurting animals is cowardly and bad and if she wants you as a friend, then she must pull her socks up be a good person (to ALL living things). I am pretty sure if you didn't know this lady then you would be posting the very same comments as above, you're probably saying "never not in a million years" but trust me you would, so quite rightly you should defend your friend, but for the love of god, at least try to help her at the same time, and stop anyone (or anything) from suffering in the future.
