Suspected Greenwich drug-dealing gang members arrested in police raids

POLICE swooped on suspected drug-dealing gang members in Greenwich in a string of early morning raids which led to 15 arrests.

There were 20 rocks of heroin plus cocaine and cash uncovered at addresses in Plumstead, Eltham, Woolwich, Abbey Wood and Greenwich during the crack-of-dawn raids on September 4.

Officers from Operation Fisheagle – set up by the Met’s Violent and Organised Crime Unit (VOCU) to combat crime in Greenwich – arrested 15 gang members aged 15 to 31 who have been charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs and gang-related drug supply.

Greenwich Council’s cabinet member for community safety and environment Cllr Maureen O'Mara said: "Royal Greenwich would once again like to congratulate VOCU officers for their success in combating violent crime in the borough.

"We are proud to fund a police team that has worked tirelessly since its introduction in 2008 to reduce serious youth violence by targeting gangs, seizing drugs and weapons, and securing convictions.

“These latest raids continue to demonstrate we won't tolerate anti-social behaviour of any kind in the Royal Borough of Greenwich."
