A WORLDWIDE sketching group is holding a communal day of drawing in Greenwich for aspiring artists.

Urban Sketchers is a non-profit organisation dedicated to encouraging the art of drawing on location.

Founded by Seattle artist Gabriel Campanario in 2007, they now have correspondents all over the globe.

Anyone can join the community and post their work online via popular image sharing website Flickr.

Urban Sketchers London will be in Greenwich on Saturday (Sept 15) for an organised "sketch crawl", a day long event for like-minded artists to meet and draw their surroundings, individually or in groups, and share the results.

Group member Nathan Brenville, from Brockley, said: "It’s not about ability or technique but engaging with your city and taking the time to get to know it. All you need to bring is paper and pencils."

The group is meeting at Cutty Sark DLR station at 11am.
