Gravesham gears up to beat the bounds with the Mayor

Mayor of Gravesham Councillor Lyn Milner Mayor of Gravesham Councillor Lyn Milner

WALKERS of all ages are invited to take part in the Gravesham tradition of beating the bounds next month.

Mayor Councillor Lyn Milner will join residents on the walk along Gravesham's boundary over the weekend of October 6 and 7.

The borough perimeter is around 35 miles long with six of that taken up by the river Thames.

On Saturday October 6 walkers will cover nearly 18 miles, leaving just over 11 miles to complete the route on Sunday.

There are plenty of refreshment stops along the way including various pubs.

Walkers are usually sponsored, with the money collected going to the mayor's charity fund.

This year Cllr Milner is supporting EllenorLions Hospice in Northfleet and the Alzheimer's and Dementia Support Services in Gravesham.

Donations are requested from those walking without sponsorship.
