Olympic and Paralympic Greatest Team parade to be watched by million people
UP TO a million people could line the streets for a Team GB and Paralympics GB victory parade through London on Monday.
Stars of Team GB's most successful Olympic Games since 1908 will all be there including Jessica Ennis, Bradley Wiggins, Katherine Grainger, Ben Ainsley and Mo Farah.
Paralympic medal winners Hannah Cockcroft, Jody Cundy and Jonnie Peacock will also be present, fresh from Sunday evening's Paralympics closing ceremony.
And Olympians from News Shopper's patches including sprinter Adam Gemili, silver-medal winning judoka Gemma Gibbons, swimmer Ellen Gandy and 400m relay runner Conrad Williams could all feature.
In total around 800 members of both teams will make their way in a parade of 21 floats from Mansion House in the City of London into the heart of the capital.
Starting at 1.30pm the Our Greatest Team parade will pass St Paul's Cathedral and Trafalgar Square, where there will be a big screen at the base of Nelson's Column along with live commentary.
For the final stretch down the Mall entrance has been reserved for 14,000 ticketholders including the volunteers and military personnel who staffed the games, alongside the athletes’ coaches, families and friends.
Schoolchildren from every London borough will also have ringside seats.
The crowds are expected to exceed the 750,000 who saw the Ashes victory parade in 2005 and the Rugby World Cup parade in 2003.
Roads along the route will be closed from 11am and organisers advised spectators to arrive several hours early as well as thinking twice about bringing small children.
The event will also be shown live on BBC One, Channel 4 and Sky News.
National Rail has advised travellers to plan ahead for the parade on September 10, and to avoid the crowds people should only travel before 5pm or after 7pm.
