Firefighters removed the woman from the trench.
A WOMAN was taken to hospital after falling into a roadwork trench in Swanscombe last night (September 6).
Emergency services were called to a three-foot trench that had been dug by engineers carrying out gas works in Leonard Avenue.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 10:45pm and spent 30-minutes lifting the woman, who is not from the local area, out.
She was taken to Darent Valley Hospital by ambulance with injuries that were thought at first to be serious.
However, she was later discharged with only minor injuries.
Two fire engines, Kent Police officers and a Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene.
