Mayor of London Boris Johnson's plea to Prime Minister David Cameron on Heathrow Airport expansion and third runway - have your say

Mayor of London Boris Johnson has urged Prime Minister David Cameron to 'end the anxiety' over Heathrow
MAYOR of London Boris Johnson has called on Prime Minister David Cameron to rule out Heathrow Airport expansion and a third runway beyond the next general election.
Following the removal of Justine Greening as transport secretary in Tuesday's cabinet reshuffle, Mr Johnson said it was time for the PM to "end the anxiety" over the airport by making clear that the government's pledge not to approve a third runway would not be ditched after the 2015 poll.
New Conservative chairman Grant Shapps took to the airwaves to insist that there remained an "absolute guarantee" of no expansion at Heathrow during this parliament, but Tory MP and environmental campaigner Zac Goldsmith said that Ms Greening's move made clear that the government was "opening the door" to the possibility of a third runway.
Any expansion of Heathrow would have implication across all of London and north Kent, not just the west of the capital, so what do you think about the possibility of a third runway? Do you think Heathrow needs to be expanded or are you against it?
There is of course still Mr Johnson’s proposal for a major new airport in the Thames Estuary on the table. Would you be in favour of this as a way to solve London’s aviation issues? Add your comments below.

Guess who ;) AGAIN ! wrote:The main winner from this is BAA's owner Ferrovial, a Spanish company. Voters should ask themselves why Lab/Con politicians are so keen to do this huge favour for them when more jobs could be created by creating a proper British airport from scratch.
I'd like to know who is going to get very very wealthy from this third runway ? Follow the money trail.
The second winner are London's cabbies who would lose out if a new airport with proper rail links was built. Voters in Eltham should keep this in mind when they wonder why their MP is pro-LHR expansion despite the additional air traffic that this would bring over the constituency.
The reality is that LHR is has been expended well beyond its limits and that it is a shame on the UK. If the UK wants to be in the airport hub business it needs a proper 21st century airport.

Although, I still like the idea of Boris Island and extra capacities at other airports.
