CCTV pictures have been released of a man police want to trace following an assault on a bus driver.

Police say the incident happened on May 22 at around 7pm when a 286 bus was travelling towards Queen Mary's Hospital along Woolwich Road.

The driver attempted to pull away from a bus stop when a man stood in front of the bus, making hand gestures towards him.

He banged on the passenger door before walking to the drivers window and punching the driver several times in the face.

Police say they want to trace a white man, with short dark hair, wearing a dark t-shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information should call Detective Constable Andy Barnard on 020 3054 5406 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I think you would remember being on a bus where the driver was attacked, a few months later.
