Beckenham girl's dog snatched by thieves in passing car

A 12-YEAR-OLD Beckenham dog lover had her pet chihuahua snatched from her arms by a passing car on Wednesday.

Tae Bennett was walking her dog Ollie along Arrol Road, Beckenham, when she was stopped by a blue car occupied by a couple in their 30s and a small girl.

The driver asked how much the dog cost before returning soon afterwards to steal the canine and, in doing, so running over Tae’s foot causing her to collapse later.

Step-father Dana Maroof, of Blandford Road, says the whole family desperately wants to be reunited with Ollie.

“Ollie is like a second child for me,” said the 36-year-old.  “When we got the dog I did not feel like I was going to be so attached to the dog.”

Tae was said to be devastated during the night.

“We could not stop her crying – she was hysterical,” said her father.

“We are obviously very eager to get Ollie back to us and any help you can provide is really appreciated.”

Tae was carried back to the family home by a neighbour after the incident.

On Thursday, Tae's foot had recovered suffciently for her and her mum to put up posters around the neighbourhood.

The man is aged between 30-40, having short cropped black hair, with black stubble and an Irish accent.

The woman has a dark brown pony tail and the little girl, also in the car, had blue eyes with blond curly hair.

A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything in the area at the time of the incident to contact us.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who has been approached by a person trying to sell a grey and white chihuahua pedigree dog to call us and aid us in our investigation."

Oh come on now. You are brainwashing a twelve year old. Irish accents Does not equal traveller or gypsy. Stop it now. It may or may not be true, but don't brand all accents with negative stereotypes.

I am a close family friend of taes and would like to say please understand no one is brainwashing anybody, and the fact is that the evidence points towards it being travellers as they have been spotted in a very similar car round bywood when they were there.
I have worked with travellers for some time and know that not all are bad ,which tae knows and understands. Please understand tae wants her dog back and any evidence that makes this happen will be explored. Thank you.
p.s As for the comment regarding roast chihuahua.
Do you not think this little girl is going through enough without some idiot putting these thoughts in her head! wise up dick
and as someone who has grown up with the colour of my skin being stereotyped i think i'm able to comment on this as i never had to open my mouth

The news shopper should not allow Sterotyping to take place if a article was wrote about a black person it would not allow someone to write black people are all drug dealers or gangstars so why Travellers the news shopper is just as bad as the other people who leave negative comments, its bad that this little girl had her dog taken I hope she gets it back, I am a Traveller and I am not a thief I pay tax I know this comment will get a load of feedback

hi, posted this on a group on fb and this woman put this : omg...i saw a dog like this in sidcup the girl had curly hair and was hiding the dog in her jacket but it was homebase in sidcup.dont know whether its this one or not they kept laughing hmm!!
They have cctv in homebase ?hope it helps x

I just knew it, a young girl with curly hair. Never ever trust anyone with curly hair. How close together were her eyebrows ? God forbid she was a ginge too, Scots or Irish ginges they are the worst.
