BEXLEY Council wants to hear from households and businesses on proposals to improve the area around Welling Corner.

Enhancements are proposed for outside the library and around the Cannon to improve them with new seating and decorative artwork.

Designs were created by landscape design company, Mor Imaginations, with the help of Year 6 pupils at St Stephen’s Catholic Primary School.

The project is funded by Transport for London and is part of a programme of works designed to improve the 'Welling corridor' from Crook Log to Welling Way.

It aims to implement measures to reduce congestion and delays, improve pedestrian facilities and enhance the street environment.

Cabinet member for leisure, Councillor Don Massey, said: "These proposals aim to provide a safer, more attractive public space for local traders, residents and shoppers.

"I’m delighted local children were involved in shaping the plans."

A consultation runs from September 1 to 21 and an open day will be held at Welling Library on September 17 from 10am to 3pm.
