Firefighters called to 20 tonnes of burning tyres in Swanscombe
FIREFIGHTERS have been called to 20 tonnes of burning tyres in Swanscombe.
Five fire engines were called to Manor Way at around 2pm this afternoon (August 23).
They used two hose reel jets and a compressed air foam system to tackle the blaze.
Witnesses said black smoke could be seen from as far away as Gravesend.
Officers from Kent Police also attended the blaze to carry out road traffic control in London Road, Swanscombe. It is not yet known whether anyone has been injured by the fire.
