Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice receives cash for new equipment
GREENWICH and Bexley Community Hospice has received £6,287 towards specialist equipment for patients.
Axis Foundation donated the cash for six new syringe drivers, which are key pieces of equipment used by nurses at the hospice, in Bostall Hill, Abbey Wood.
The small battery powered pump can be carried by the patient and releases medicine slowly, safely and effectively under the skin, providing ongoing relief from pain and other distressing symptoms.
Director of care services at the hospice, Penny Jones, said: "We need syringe driver pumps as they enable us to ensure patients receive pain relief and other symptom control medication for example, to help relieve sickness when people are unable to take tablets or other medicines by mouth.
"These small pumps are invaluable in the care we provide for patients with complex symptoms."
