A BROTHEL raid in Bromley was interrupted by a punter who claimed to be a workman.

While a search was being carried out in the premises on July 15 , a man rang the doorbell and was surprised to have an officer open the door.

The man said he had come to measure up for floor repairs but had forgotten his tools, paperwork, pen and work van.

Police visited the brothel, at Masons Hill, after concerns were raised by residents about increased anti-social behaviour and closed it down.

Two women, aged 33 and 44, were found inside along with items of bedding, massage lotions, condoms and paper towels.

Notification letters were served on both the tenants and the flat's landlord saying offences were being committed against the Sexual Offences Act 1956.

The landlord of the premises was oblivious to the situation because he had left the rental arrangements to a letting agent.

PC Nancy Weller from Bromley Police said: "The closure of this brothel has demonstrated that police take residents' concerns very seriously and aim to solve such problems as soon as possible.

"We are committed to ensuring the lives of local residents are not affected by nuisance addresses such as this."

Anyone who suspects a brothel to be operating in their neighbourhood should report it to police by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or by contacting their local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
