Going to the hairdresser’s has never been one of my favourite experiences – there have been too many disasters which ended in tears.

One stylist hacked my hair to shreds with a razor, another turned it a hideous shade of brown/orange and the next gave me the most insane fringe I’ve ever seen.

So when I was invited to review Greenwich Clipper, I was extremely excited but, understandably, a little nervous.

There was absolutely nothing to worry about.

From the second I walked into this friendly salon, I knew I’d be in good hands.

There’s an undeniable aura of confidence oozing from staff and clients alike – everyone knows they’ll be leaving happy.

As a wonderful surprise, I was treated to a back and neck massage on my arrival.

My bubbly masseur Rosie has the healing hands of an angel.

I never realised how much tension I was carrying in my shoulders from daily stress, and, using warming massage oil, Rosie worked out knot after knot from my muscles – utter bliss.

There is nothing more relaxing than a soothing – yet satisfyingly painful – massage to wipe away the stresses of the week.

If you have half an hour to dedicate to yourself, I thoroughly recommend a session, or two, with this highly skilled young therapist.

Feeling amazingly peaceful and knot free, it was time to have my hair highlighted.

My colourist Josie talked me through what I wanted my lacklustre locks to look like and got cracking mixing up the bleach.

Expertly packing my hair into foil after foil full of colour, Josie told me about her attempts to learn Portuguese so she can speak to her boyfriend’s foreign family on holiday.

This sassy girl is not only a whiz with dye, but full of fascinating stories and funny conversation to make your time in the chair fly by.

After more than six months without a visit to a salon, I’d gone from blonde to a rather sad-looking head of massive routes and dull ends.

I could have kissed Josie on the cheek – what a transformation.

Be sure to ask for this talented stylist if you’re in need of a colourful new look.

As the bleach worked its magic, I met up with Rosie again to get a killer set of OPI gel nails.

Painted onto your natural nails, this fabulous manicure is said to last up to three weeks and looks incredible.

I went for a sexy blood red, perfect for short talons.

I really warmed to this friendly beautician – she is definitely the most passionate I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.

This endearing girl can’t decide which part of working at Greenwich Clipper she enjoys most.

Her love of massaging, giving facials, painting nails and waxing are all equally strong and it really does show.

It would be marvellous if we all loved our jobs that much.

Back in the hair salon with a freshly washed mane, fashion consultant Kerry got to work on trimming away my deader than dead ends.

Amid hilarious stories, and one rather disturbing tale about gerbils, she skilfully chopped my tresses into shape, giving me shorter layers around my face and a funky new fringe.

Sadly it was one of Kerry’s last days at the salon as she’s off to star in a musical, but this lovely lady is an artist with scissors as well as a mic.

She did an amazing job.

My hair was back to the colour I love – golden retriever blonde as I call it – and cut and blow-dried to perfection.

With a multitude of treatments on offer, Greenwich Clipper in the heart of town is so lucky to have found such wonderful, and talented, staff.

Banish memories of nightmare salon trips and replace them with a dream come true.
