A WITNESS appeal has been launched following a fatal collision in New Cross yesterday afternoon (July 1).
Emergency services were called after a pedestrian was hit by a car outside the fire station in Queens Road just before 4pm.
The casualty, a man believed to be aged 30, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers believe they know who the deceased is but a formal identification has yet to take place.
A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
The 24-year-old driver of a black Nissan Note stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He has been bailed to return to a south London police station in early September pending further inquiries.
The incident is being investigated by officers from the road death investigation unit (RDIU) from at Catford Traffic Garage.
They want any witnesses to contact them at the RDIU on 020 8285 1574.
