A NIGERIAN man who died after he stopped breathing while being arrested has been named.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) confirmed the man was Frank Ogboru, 43, from Lagos.
Mr Ogboru was formally identified by members of his family on October 13.
Police arrested him at shortly after 10.30pm following a disturbance at the Vista Building, Calderwood Street, Woolwich, on September 26.
Mr Ogboru became unwell during the arrest and officers tried to resuscitate him after he stopped breathing.
He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich, and was pronounced dead at 11.44pm.
The IPCC is conducting an investigation into the circumstances of Mr Ogboru's death.
It is being led by IPCC commissioner Mehmuda Mian Pritchard.
