A 60-YEAR-OLD woman who is constantly woken up by her noisy neighbour having sex is calling for soundproofing to her flat.

Christine Knowles of Albany Park, Sidcup, has been living for two years with sounds from her amorous neighbour’s lovemaking interrupting her sleep.

The mother-of-five, whose bedroom sits below her neighbour’s in the London and Quadrant (L&Q) property, resorts to sitting in her car in the middle of the night just to escape the noise.

She said: "The girl seems to constantly have sex and I can hear her at 2am.

"It wakes me up.

"People say it’s just household noise but if I was banging a nail in the wall at 2am it would be a different story.

"I can also hear them laughing, talking and having private conversations."

Mrs Knowles, who is registered disabled and suffers from severe arthritis, says she is at her "wits end" and that the noise is ruining her health.

She has also had to stay with her 78-year-old mother to get some respite.

The retired psychiatric nurse said: "It’s destroying me.

"Over the last few months, I have had to go on antidepressants and sedatives so I can get some sleep.

"I’m usually such a happy and lively person but I feel like my personality has been taken away from me

"I’m just so desperately tired and tearful."

She added: "I’ve been fighting London and Quadrant for soundproofing- I’m entitled to privacy, and so is she."

An L&Q spokesman says the housing association is looking into the situation.

He said: "Following persistent complaints about noise we will be installing monitoring equipment today to enable sound levels to be reviewed independently.

"We will then get in contact with both residents to discuss the results and next steps."
