AN 89-YEAR-OLD war veteran enjoyed afternoon tea and music at a Garden Party in Buckingham Palace.

Victor Beuzard, of Northbourne Court, in Harland Avenue, Sidcup, joined the RAF aged 19 in 1942, during the Second World War.

He worked on Lancaster bomber planes and was stationed in Singapore until 1946.

Mr Beuzard married his wife Joan in 1969 and they had two children, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was invited to the Garden Party by The Not Forgotten Association, which provides entertainment, leisure and recreation for the serving wounded and ex-service men and women with disabilities.

More than 2,400 guests attended the event along with The Duchess of Gloucester, formerly Birgitte Eva van Deurs Henriksen.

Mr Beuzard's daughter Pam Sanders, who attended the Palace with him, said: "I was quite moved by the fact we were in the company of so many service people.

"Some of them were young people who were severely injured but it didn't seem to faze them at all.

"I felt very humbled."
