A FOX which was abandoned at just two weeks old now has a name and some friends.

The baby was found lying in the road close to the Ravensbourne Gate housing development in Copers Cope Road, Beckenham, back in March.

It is thought he was dropped by a startled vixen, which was moving him to a new location.

Back then he was so small staff from the developer Bloor Homes used an eyewash tube from a first aid kit to give him water.

Now, as these pictures show, the animal, which has been named Kenneth, is well on his way to recovery at the home of a volunteer for The Fox Project in Bexhill, East Sussex.

He has joined a litter of four other cubs and has become good friends with all of them including the runt of the litter Mighty Midge.

They play together and often snuggle up to sleep together.

The Fox Project's director Trevor Williams said: "The family has bonded very well.

“They have all gone wild so by the end of summer when they are released they will be as wild a fox as one would be.”

Kenneth will remain with Mighty Midge and his other ‘brothers’ throughout the summer.

He will then be released back to the wild somewhere between late July and early September.

“Release is done at the natural time when the wild raised foxes will break away from their family groups.

“As the winter comes they go off and find their own territory.”

Kenneth and the rest of his litter will be released in a rural location.
