CUB Scouts got down and dirty to help their community as they cleaned up a river.

Wearing wellies and thick rubber gloves the 3rd Orpington Cub Scouts helped the charity Thames 21 to clear out part of the River Cray as part of the national Scout Community Week.

This week has replaced Scout Job Week and aims to build on the voluntary work Scouts are already doing.

Cub Scout leader Andrew Watkins said: “Through Scout Community Week, the Scout Association is reaffirming its commitment to strengthening communities and helping the local area.

“At a time when local authorities, public services and charities are feeling the pinch more than ever, The Scout Association intends to harness this volunteering habit up and down the country.
