FIRE engines, ambulances and police cars rushed to a two-vehicle collision at Gad’s Hill School – in order to teach pupils about dealing with emergencies.

The mock road traffic collision was staged in the school’s car park and it was the pupils who were first on the scene following the smash.

It was left to youngsters to secure the site and provide first aid to the victims before crews from Kent Fire and Rescue (KFRS), Kent Police and St John’s Ambulance arrived.

Injured motorists were lead away from the scene while the two fire engines cut the entire roof off the car to free a trapped motorist.

Headmaster David Craggs said: “The safety and well-being of our pupils is always paramount and having the opportunity to work alongside the emergency services on a project like this gives our pupils firsthand experience of just how important being safe on the roads is.”

Gad’s Hill is an independent school, teaching students aged between three and 16.
